The International Academic Forum on "Malaria Prevention and Control Research" was Successfully Held

The international academic forum "Malaria Prevention and Research" was held on May 15, sponsored by the Science and Technology Department of Yangzhou University, the Discipline Construction Office, the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, the Medical College, the translational medicine Research Institute, the non-coding RNA Key Laboratory for Basic and Clinical Transformation of Jiangsu Province, the Key Laboratory for the Prevention and Treatment of Geriatric Diseases in Combination of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine of Jiangsu Province, and the Key Research Room of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine for "Treatment of Gastric Cancer by Virulence". More than 100 medical school teachers and graduate students participated in this meeting. Zhao Wenming, Vice President of Yangzhou University, attended and delivered the opening speech. Qian Li, the dean of the medical school, presided over the opening ceremony. Liu Fang, Director of the Science and Technology Department of Yangzhou University, Dai Yuqin, Director of the Discipline Construction Office, and Zhang Yin, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department, attended the opening ceremony.


At the opening ceremony, Vice President Zhao Wenming, on behalf of the school, congratulated the forum and welcomed experts and scholars from both domestic and international malaria prevention and control to participate in the forum. He hopes to take this forum as an opportunity to continue to strengthen basic research and key core technology research in malaria prevention and control, focus on promoting interdisciplinary integration, pay attention to the integration and development of medical disciplines and other disciplines, and provide stronger scientific support for the eradication of malaria; Continue to strengthen communication and cooperation, broaden ideas, inspire new insights, and strive to find new vector control methods, diagnostic agents, antimalarial drugs, and other tools to make new and greater contributions to safeguarding human health.


7 experts from domestic and foreign universities and research institutions gave exciting special reports based on their own research directions and achievements. The reports included the discovery of new antimalarial drugs through high-throughput screening systems, the application of omics methods in malaria research, the establishment of a malaria diagnosis and treatment platform, the mechanism of malaria parasite invasion into red blood cells, and the study of malaria vaccines. The attending teachers and students had a heated academic exchange and discussion with the experts.
