Professor Wang Bochu, doctoral supervisor of Chongqing University and currently deputy director of the Key Laboratory of "Biorheology Technology and Science" of the Ministry of Education, was invited to give an academic report on the "Medical Source Forum" for teachers and students of our institute on the afternoon of October 16th,, entitled "Biotransformation Boosts the Research and Development of Alternatives to Precious Chinese Materia Medica". The academic report was chaired by Professor Yan Bingchun, Vice Dean, and the faculty and students of the School of Medicine attended the report meeting.
Wang Bochu is an authoritative expert in the field of substitution research, functional protein design and development and force-biology of endangered and precious Chinese medicinal materials. In the report, Professor Wang took the background of the research on the substitution of endangered and precious Chinese medicinal materials as the starting point, introduced a number of key technical problems of bear bile substitution that his scientific research team has overcome over the past ten years, shared the experience of the "three-step strategy" to open up the industrial chain of enzymatic biosynthesis, and successfully obtained "chemically equivalent and bioequivalent" artificial bear bile powder. The research goal of Professor Wang and his research team is to use biotransformation technology to conduct in-depth research on precious Chinese medicinal materials and seek feasible alternative development solutions, so as to solve the problem of dwindling existing precious Chinese medicinal materials and ensure the efficacy and sustainability of Chinese herbal medicines.
After the presentation, Professor Wang had a warm interactive exchange with the participating teachers and students, and answered their questions in detail.
