The Department of Basic Medicine and Medical Technology consists of five disciplines: human anatomy and Histology & Embryology, cell biology and biochemistry, physiology and functional science, immunology and pathogenic biology, pathology and pathophysiology. At present, there are undergraduate majors in medical laboratory technology and master's degrees in basic medicine.
The department has established the Provincial Basic Medical Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences of Yangzhou University, the RNA Research Center of Yangzhou University Medical School, the Electrophysiology Laboratory of Yangzhou University Medical School, and the Neuroanatomy Laboratory of Yangzhou University Medical School. Basic medicine is a first-level key discipline of Yangzhou University during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan". The human physiology course is an excellent course taught in English in Jiangsu Province. The immunology and histology and embryology courses are excellent courses taught in English at the school level. Human anatomy is a provincial-level adult education fine course, and biochemistry is a school-level adult education fine course.
There are 11 professors in the Department of basic medicine and medical technology, accounting for 28% of the faculty series of the whole department, including one specially appointed professor in Jiangsu Province, 21 associate professors (49% of the faculty Series) and 22 doctoral teachers (49% of the faculty Series). In recent years, it has won more than 30 national and provincial scientific research projects, with scientific research funds of more than 10 million yuan.
